“What’s saving your life right now?” is a question I read years ago in Barbara Brown Taylor’s book Leaving Church. It’s a question that I think of often, and like most good questions, the answer is constantly evolving.
”What’s saving your life right now?” might be another way to ask, “What’s an OOH LA LA! from your week?” Whatever is good and pleasurable and peaceful and powerful, whatever is joyful and and inspiring and hope-filled, whatever is kind and beautiful, and whatever ignites a spark of aliveness, these are OOH LA LAs!
This week DRAWING is saving my life, among other wonders, so my response to the question comes in the form of a sketchbook page.
This week’s OOH LA LA! list includes: laying against a tree and looking up through the branches, the smell of onion and carrots sauteed in soil for soup, finding perfectly ripe tomatoes at the grocery store and on sale!, licking the spoon after mixing brownies, watching raindrops fall softly on the grass and then stay on the clover leaves, playing with letters, waving hello to the geese in the East River, the glow from the twinkling lights outside my window at night, watching the clouds move and morph and collide and transform
XOXO,
LJ
