I do not have a television in my apartment so sometimes at night, I sit and look out at the street lights and watch my cat sleeping in her window perch. I call it Cat TV.
I’m not sure how her 11.7 pound body stays held up by the suction cups on the window, but it’s a wonder to witness her snuggling so peacefully there. It’s hard to feel anything but joy when I see her smoochie face nestled between her paws, her tail eloquently tucked beneath her.
I know the joy I feel from watching her comes from her energy of being fully present, awake (or asleep as she often is) right here, right now. I want to be more like this.
This week’s OOH LA LA! list includes: Facebook marketplace, finding mushrooms, comfort food delivery.
All week I’ve been in a hyper-focused energy toward cleaning and organizing my apartment. I wanted to downsize my closet but ended up rearranging my entire bedroom. I had a table that didn’t fit and was making it tricky to navigate my small space, so I put up some photos of it on Facebook Marketplace and the next day, two women came to my door, took it away, then paid me $30. I love a communal exchange!
I found a park near me with trees and trails where you can walk into the woods and not see other people or the city. I tried to see the pond, but there was a film crew with a fog machine blocking the path. Fortunately, the real gold was finding mushrooms—purple and blue ones growing on fallen logs and turkey tails on decaying trees. Finding mushrooms always makes me feel reawakened to the great mystery of everything - funny how a tiny thing can be so big.
Is there anything more satisfying than ordering comfort food delivery straight to your door on a day when comfort is needed?! Some days, the only cure for a hard day is hot noodles. I ordered Pad See Ew and BOGO veggie spring rolls - and they arrived to my door in 25 minutes! What a gift! One bite of a warmed rice roll dipped in a sweet sauce and it was heaven on earth.
Thanks for reading!
I’d love to know - what is an OOH LA LA something you experienced or observed this week?

I was so inspired by mushrooms that after my hike, I rewatched Fantastic Fungi. Here’s one of my fave quotes from the film: "Evolution is based on the concept of mutual benefit, and the extension of generosity."
